February 2018 - Dressage at Mendip Plains Equestrian Centre
Thankfully, there are no photographs from this event.
Freddie travelled beautifully on his own to the show. He managed to wait quietly in the trailer whilst we walked to the secretary's tent to collect numbers, stood politely to be tacked up and warmed up nicely, even when one of the other competitors let go of her horse and it went rodeo-ing up the (very small) warm up towards us.
But.... having entered the dressage arena, spooking past the double-decker bus, the tone for the test was apparently set for Freddie. We entered at A facing B and proceeded to trot sideways to C and so it went on. I ignored the "entertaining" actions and we continued to go through each movement.
The judge kindly commented that when he was doing the moves correctly there was a lot to like. The "Well done for persevering on this rather naughty little pony" comment just made me think of the Life of Brian and I giggled all the way home. Nevermind.
