With unseasonably glorious weather, we got back to the grid work. After jumping incredibly the day before the last show, Fred had lost his confidence after a horse ran into him in the warm up. This lack of focus followed us in to the ring and we did not have the fluid round I had hoped for, particularly as I felt we were ready to build on our lovely rounds in October.
But we live and learn. Back to basics, build the confidence. I'm very proud of him doing this grid. 6 months ago we couldn't have managed this. A year ago he would have just hammered through at 100mph knocking poles flying as we nose-dived over each obstacle.
