From my last post, you might not be surprised that it's been a bit quiet on the old 'Fred front', since almost 8 weeks ago I went through a jump wing at speed.
Devasting because Fred had been absolutely flying. I'd put the fences up to a really good 90/95 with wide old spreads in preparation for the Hartpury Champs.
Anyhoo I had 4 weeks out of action for badly bruised ribs - but thankfully not broken! Then I was able to get back on board - tentatively. By week 6 the ribs had stopped hurting, although the core (for me and for Fred) was flabby!! So we were basically just about ready to pick up the pace again when the heatwave hit.... Sigh......
It has meant however, that Ewen has become a bit of pro stable hand / groom.... He won't be allowed now to 'not do' stable duties ever again. *Cue evil laugh*
And on a happier note - we also got out competing again yesterday. With the Trailblazers 2nd Rounds ending this month, I had to get my sorry flabby butt (and Fred's!) back in the ring.
We did an accurate Ele 1 test for 65.17%. I'm pleased with that as a marker for where we are, it lacked our usual pizzazz but given I wouldn't normally be out competing this soon after Fred had had a 4 week break, I'm pleased that he didn't bust any extra moves or just go feral on me - which is his thang. I'm pleased with the score, the attitude, that I remembered the test and how to ride 10m circles and find centre lines! and I know the rest will come back. I even plaited for the occasion.

Also, some exciting bits. A good lesson on June 10 when Fred just felt AMAZING - so I've put some bits to music.

And I was informed that Fred was the pin up to promote Reels at Hartpury - how exciting! - So even though we weren't there in physical sense, we were in spirit.
